WHY COMPOST MATTERS

Compost is a natural process that takes place in the soil. By helping the compost process, we can boost soil health, and in turn plant health. Supporting the natural composting process in our fields and gardens increases soil health over time. Using chemical fertilizers depletes soil health over time. Here are some of the ways composting matters & improves soil health.

Nutrient Supply: Compost is rich in essential nutrients required by plants for their growth, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

Soil Structure: Composting improves the soil's texture. It enhances the soil's ability to hold and absorb water and nutrients.

Microbial Activity: Compost is teeming with beneficial microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, and other microbes. These organisms help break down organic matter, releasing nutrients in the process. They also help suppress diseases and harmful pests.

Environmental Sustainability: Composting is an excellent way to recycle organic waste, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and decreasing the amount of waste going to landfills.

Carbon Sequestration: Compost can help sequester carbon in the soil, reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses.
